What the numbers mean
Rug exports fell sharply in 2025-26. The US is still the main market. Makers who reach US designers, rug stores and online sellers directly are less exposed to a few large importers.
Where it is made
Hand-knotted rugs are made in Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta, often by families working from home. Karachi is the main finishing and export hub.
Where it is sold
The US takes the largest share, followed by Germany and the UK. Across all products, the US bought $5.76 billion of goods from Pakistan in 2025, more than any other country.
